Construction Beams & Timber

  • STS are proud suppliers of versatile and durable construction timbers that are used in a variety of final applications. We focus on sourcing certified, strong, and durable timbers and species that are used from heavy industrial projects to high-end beams and timbers in house construction. For example, STS is one of the worlds largest suppliers of sustainably certified Purpleheart which makes a beautiful construction timber.

    Species available for construction beam and timber applications are Greenheart, Purpleheart, Tatajuba and Cupiuba.

  • STS can supply heavy timbers in sizes ranging from as small as 2x4” (50x100mm) up to large cross-sectional timbers in 20x20". We produce common lengths in 11.6-11.8m (38-39ft) for containers and can produce up to 20m (65ft), shipped in break bulk.

Boards & Planks

  • STS generally exports most products in rough sawn state. Hence, we provide a variety of boards and sizes as feedstock for end-uses such as wall cladding and outdoor decking. We can provide boards in most standard sizes including: 21, 25, & 32mm. We can also provide in other sizes up to 50mm if required. We can also supply profiled lumber on request.

  • Guyanese species are known for their excellent durability and longevity. So, STS in Guyana have a variety of species that are suitable for outdoor decking and the natural environment.

    Species available for decking are Purpleheart, Tatajuba, Mora, Greenheart, Wallaba, Angelique, Jatoba, with smaller quantities in Sucupira Preta, Massaranduba, Louro Vermelho, Cumaru, Araracanga, Cupiuba, Fava Amargosa and Mandioqueira

Bearers & Sub Construction

  • Guyana produces many natural timbers that are highly durable, stable, and suitable for sub construction. This includes Wallaba, Massaranduba, Mora, Sapucaia, Tatajuba, Mandioqueira and more.

  • STS is one supplier who strongly attempts to utilize lesser-known species as much as possible to help maintain natural forest biodiversity. Therefore, we can provide various species in recovery driven products like sub construction.

Fence Posts & Rails

  • Wallaba is one of the best suited timbers for fencing and outdoor use due to its amazing properties related to ground contact. It is highly resistant to typical weathering processes such as moisture contact, ultraviolet light, decay, and insect and fungus infestation. STS is one of the largest suppliers of Wallaba and other specialist species for fencing and landscaping.

  • Guyana is blessed with consistent supply in some key species that are ideal for fencing and landscaping, including: Wallaba, Mora, Tatajuba and Massaranduba.

Joinery

  • Some of our timbers are well known for their aesthetic beauty, stability, and uses as joinery timbers in various local and international markets. Though tropical timbers are not commonly used for joinery anymore, if naturally durable and stable timbers are required, then we may have species and products that have the technical requirement you need.

  • STS can supply several species that are suitable, and commonly used, for joinery applications. Including: Cedar, Andiroba, Purpleheart, Angelim Pedra, Angelique, Jatoba, & Louro Vermelho. Feel free to enquire about our supply.

Crane Mats

  • Guyana’s dense timbers with high strength to weight ratios, high tolerance to impact and short duration loads, and resistance to mechanical and natural abrasion, makes our timbers an attractive choice for dragline and crane mats. Our tropical timbers can be superior to other hardwoods especially where the application is in wetlands where no treatment is allowed, and natural durability is required.

  • STS crane mat timbers are available in Greenheart and Mora.

    We can also supply Mixed Hardwoods such as Wamara, Kabukalli, Araracanga, Angelim Pedra, Sucupira, Jatoba, Tatajuba, Burada, Massaranduba, Supucaia and Cumaru.

Railroad Ties (Sleepers)

  • Our tropical timbers are superior to other hardwoods especially where application is in wetlands where no treatment is allowed and durability is required. Our timbers are naturally resistant to insects and decay with no treatment required, making it the perfect choice for railroad ties (sleepers).

  • Species available for railroad ties (sleepers) are Angelim Pedra, Cupiuba, and Araracanga.

Industrial Pallets

  • Many of our timbers at naturally durable and do not stain and thus do not require chemical preservatives. This provides an environmentally friendly alternative to chemically treated materials.

  • Our dense timbers with their high strength-to-weight ratio, high tolerance to impact, and resistance to rot make them perfect for tough durable industrial pallets and crates.

Round & Transmission Poles

  • Wallaba is considered to be one of the best suited timbers for transmission and round poles with its high resistance to moisture, insect infestation, and decay, and can fight off insects and decay without the use of preservative chemicals. The resins contained within the wood give it natural resistance to the most adverse of weather conditions and fungal threats. No treatments are necessary!

    It is rated Class 1 durability (40 years + above ground, 25 years + in ground) with a Class A fire rating similar to concrete or metal with a lifespan of 40 years or more.

  • Species we can offer transmission and round poles in Wallaba and Greenheart.

Shingles

  • Wallaba is considered to be one of the best suited timbers for shingles with its high resistance to moisture, insect infestation, and decay, and can fight off insects and decay without the use of preser-vative chemicals. The resins contained within the wood give it natural resistance to the most adverse of weather conditions and fungal threats.

  • Wallaba shingles are:

    · Rated Class 1 durability
    · Class A fire rating similar to concrete or metal
    · A lifespan of 40 years or more
    · Janka side hardness of 2040 lb @ 12% MC
    · Category 5 hurricane resistance

    Wallaba shingles outperforms Western Red cedar shingles.

  • Guyana produces an amazing variety of wood species with varying colours, textures and natural beauty. From deep purple to bright red or bright yellow, we have an amazing array of live-edge timber slabs that will take your breath away and be the center-piece of any room.

  • Our species are unique and some can only be found right here in Guyana (i.e. Greenheart), or can only be found here in such amazing colours, sizes, and quality (i.e. Purpleheart or Wamara).
